We keep telling women to break the glass ceiling. Expand the walls. Take the seat at the table. Build that six- or seven-figure business!
And yes. Hell yes. We need that. But nobody tells you what it costs to get there.
You fight your way in, and your nervous system pays the toll. You override the exhaustion, the tight chest, the racing heart, because pushing through is what got you this far. You tell yourself it's temporary. A season. Once I get there, I'll rest. But do we?
Then you get there. And your hormones are in revolt. Your sleep is gone. Your patience is gone. You're irritable, foggy, wrung out in ways you can't explain to anyone who hasn't lived it. Menopause hits like a second job nobody warned you about, on top of the first one you tightly gripped your way into.
We call it "having it all!" The title, the seat, the influence, revenue and SUCCESS! But look closer at the woman in her fifties or sixties who fought for that seat. Ask her how she's sleeping. Ask her what she's still carrying in her body. Ask her, gently, if she remembers who she was before she became this useful.
Because here's the truth nobody puts on the vision board: you can win the seat and still lose yourself getting there.
That's not ambition working. That's betrayal disguised as achievement, the slow, quiet trade where you give away pieces of yourself for a title, a metric, a place at a table that was never going to ask if you were okay.
I don't say this to talk you out of climbing. I say it because I don't want you arriving at the top only to find no one's home.
This is the work. Not just leading louder. Leading as yourself, nervous system regulated, voice intact, body still yours.
If this is landing somewhere tender, I want to invite you, no pressure, just an open door to Lead With More of Herself, a one-day retreat on Friday, October 16th, 9 am–5 pm (location TBD).
This isn't another strategy day. It's a day to come back into your body, reclaim the voice you've been managing instead of leading with, and remember who you were reaching for the table in the first place before the climb asked you to leave her behind.
Investment: $997
If some part of you read this and felt the ache of recognition, that's the part I'd love to spend the day with.
XO,
Kim
